Biography:
As a Senior Scientist at Woods Hole Group, Chris Gloninger provides guidance and direction on technical needs and approach relating to analysis of meteorology and climate data, coastal and climate related hazards, emergency management, community engagement and risk communication. I have over 18 years of experience in broadcast meteorology, covering major weather events such as hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, and floods, and reporting on climate change impacts and solutions.
I hold a Master of Science in Emergency Management and two prestigious credentials from the American Meteorological Society: Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) and Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM). I am also a part-time instructor at the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center and the Boston University School of Medicine, teaching courses on emergency management and meteorology to first responders and graduate students. I am passionate about advancing the science and practice of weather forecasting, risk communication, and disaster preparedness, and contributing to the resilience and sustainability of communities and ecosystems.
