Auden Schendler

Biography:

Auden Schendler is a Colorado-based climate activist, author, and Senior Vice President of Sustainability at Aspen One. He wrote Getting Green Done (2009) and Terrible Beauty (2024) to critique conventional environmentalism and fossil-fuel complicity, with frequent essays in the New York Times, Harvard Business Review, and more. At Aspen One, he’s helped develop clean energy projects—from microhydro to coal-mine methane power—and served on Colorado’s Air Quality Control Commission and Basalt town council. A longtime board member of Protect Our Winters, he champions scalable climate solutions through policy, movement-building in the outdoor industry, and public speaking, all while pursuing adventures from Denali to the Grand Canyon.
