Elena DeLacy is the Executive Director of the American River Conservancy, where she leads efforts to protect and restore the natural and cultural resources of California’s Sierra Nevada foothills. With more than two decades of experience at the organization, she has guided major conservation, watershed restoration, and trail development initiatives that benefit both local communities and the environment.
Under her leadership, the Conservancy has secured and implemented more than $18 million in conservation and restoration projects, achieved land trust accreditation, launched a local UC California Naturalist Certification Course, and strengthened partnerships with government agencies, stakeholders, and regional conservation organizations. Elena brings expertise in land conservation, ecological restoration, geographic information systems, grant writing, fundraising, and community engagement. She is passionate about connecting people with nature and advancing sustainable solutions that preserve landscapes for future generations.
