Jack Brouwer is a professor, Chancellor’s Fellow, and Director of the UC Irvine Clean Energy Institute. Widely recognized as a leading global expert on hydrogen energy, his research focuses on advancing clean energy technologies and integrated energy systems.

Since joining UC Irvine in 1997, Jack has led pioneering research in fuel cells, electrolyzers, gas turbines, and renewable energy systems, including solar and wind power. His work has helped drive innovation in alternative energy and has contributed significantly to the development of sustainable energy solutions. Prior to UC Irvine, he served as a research assistant professor at the University of Utah and as a member of the technical staff at Reaction Engineering International.

Jack earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and is internationally recognized for his contributions to clean energy research, education, and technology development.
