John Marshall is the founder and CEO of Potential Energy Coalition, a nonpartisan nonprofit marketing organization dedicated to increasing public support for climate action through evidence-based communications. A nationally recognized marketing strategist, John brings more than 30 years of experience advising Fortune 500 companies on branding, innovation, growth strategy, and consumer behavior.
Before founding Potential Energy in 2017, John held senior leadership roles across the marketing, consulting, and education sectors, including Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Lippincott, Global Head of Strategy and Analytics at Digitas, President of The Princeton Review, and Partner at Oliver Wyman. Throughout his career, he has advised leading organizations such as CVS Health, Samsung, 3M, eBay, Bank of America, and Bain Capital.
John is a frequent speaker and commentator on climate communication, behavioral science, and marketing strategy. His work has been featured in publications including Harvard Business Review, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Wired, and Fast Company. He holds a degree in Chemistry from Princeton University and an MBA with Distinction from Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business.
