Biography:
Subarna Bhattacharyya is a climate data scientist and climate modeler working in applying mathematical and statistical signal processing tools, time series analysis and machine learning to develop predictive modeling of localized climate variables and its impact from a risk assessment perspective. Her current focus is on understanding precipitation changes in a climate change scenario and its possible impact on water supply. Using modeling and simulation of possible scenarios of climate restoration using earth system models, and analyzing the impact of those on greenhouse emissions, El Nino and tropical storms, impacts on various tropospheric processes and their mechanisms are some of her research interests.
Subarna is interested in climate risk modeling and assessment as well. Her academic journey began with studying physics, civil (stochastic structural dynamics) engineering and proceeded to climate data analysis, climate modeling and simulation, entraining in its wake a widely interdisciplinary analytical skills (statistical signal processing, wavelet analysis and non linear dynamics) which aid her in her research. She is also interested in renewable energy like solar and wind and research involving renewable energy forecasting techniques on different time scales.
