Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove represents California’s 37th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, serving communities across Los Angeles County. A dedicated advocate for justice, equity, and opportunity, she has built her career around advancing policies that support families, strengthen communities, and expand access to economic and social mobility.

In Congress, Sydney serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where she is the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on South and Central Asia, and on the House Judiciary Committee. She also serves as Whip of the Congressional Black Caucus, Co-Chair of the Congressional Brazil Caucus, and Policy Co-Chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus. Her legislative priorities focus on land, economic justice, arts, and democracy, while her work has included efforts to protect human rights, support the African diaspora, and strengthen U.S. global engagement.

Before her election to Congress in 2022, Sydney served in both the California State Assembly and State Senate, where she championed housing, education, criminal justice reform, and economic opportunity. She also served on the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees and worked with nonprofit organizations focused on community development and public arts programs.

Sydney holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University. She remains a strong voice for underserved communities and a leader on issues affecting Los Angeles and the nation.
